Gatineau, Outaouais Tourism renew promotion agreement
Gatineau and Outaouais Tourism renewed their multifaceted tourism agreement on February 9. This new three-year agreement, approved February 16, sits well with Richard Bégin, Deschênes councillor and a member of the Outaouais Tourism Board.
"This will ensure the promotion and the development of Gatineau’s many attractions, not to mention our built and natural heritage and our cultural life," said Bégin.
The agreement sets the local tourism offer on Gatineau’s flagship activities, cycling and cross-country skiing. The agreement will promote Gatineau’s urban core, the city’s events calendar and the tourist water route proposed to council last year by Outaouais Tourism, and more.
The city’s commitments will cost $415,000 annually. More than half, specifically $240,000, is earmarked for three full-time positions ($80,000 salary per position). $175,000 is for promotion and for development of tourism -- $50,000 for business tourism, $50,000 for pleasure tourism, and $75,000 for attraction and “retention strategies”. Outaouais Tourism will contribute the same amounts, for the same categories.
