Calling all authors!
Gatineau launches annual writing competition
Gatineau has invited the population’s most
prolific and passionate authors to submit their entries for the 2020 Écrivain en résidence competition. According to a press release
issued by the city on June 22, entries need to be submitted before midnight, July
15.
With $3,500 to be won,
the press release stated that the chosen author will be assigned to work on a
project throughout October, while sharing his or her progress with the
community. People can register via the following link - https://fr.surveymonkey.com/r/PLLKR3Z
- and the form must include the participant’s biography, a summary of their
proposed project and a 1,500-word essay about it. Each entry will be
evaluated by a trio of judges, based on the quality and originality of the writing,
the contribution to regional literature, the enthusiasm of participating in
media events, the interest in public contact and exchange, and the quality of
animation in the writing process.
To be eligible, participants must be
permanent Canadian residents, speak French, reside in the Outaouais, have been
members of a professional author’s association who have published at least one
project with a well-known publisher. The purpose of the contest is to promote
regional literature in the Outaouais. Hull-native Julie Huard was last year’s
winner.
