Garbage: more information, fines and enforcement?

 

As Gatineau brings in limits on the amount of household waste citizens are allowed to dispose of, the amount of garbage being dumped in rural areas is increasing.

Gatineau is committed to informing citizens not to dump their household waste in neighbouring municipalities -- and to prosecuting/fining those who do. A large amount of waste was recently dumped ten metres from a newly installed municipal sign stating “No Dumping, $200.00 fine”.  Maybe Gatineau needs to increase the fine.
