Garbage along Lucerne Blvd

 

Again this year, Lucerne Boulevard has become another Aylmer garbage dump because some people show such flagrant disrespect for the environment and their surroundings. Lately, I counted 5 garbage bags, long sheets of plastic from construction sites, and numerous coffee cups, beer bottles and cans, paper, and so forth.

Every Spring there is a great cleanup, but it does not last, the problem reoccurs the very next day, and the work needs to be redone. We also know that high winds often disperse garbage everywhere. The City should address the problem by undertaking a program such as “Adopt a Roadway, Ditch or Park, etc’’. Those who are conscious of the environment can contribute to making Gatineau a model of cleanliness.
