LETTER
Future not bright under the Liberals
In 1990, I traveled to Moscow to research my great-grandmother at the Lenin State Library. It was still a whacky place. Whilst cigars and champagne were bountiful, milk was rare; brooms and windshield wipers were only obtainable from the Black Market.
Yesterday, I witnessed Canada's slide toward Bolshevik central planning when I went shopping for a 100 watt incandescent light bulb and found that the Liberal Party Central Planners had outlawed their manufacture and sale. What was available were those filled with mercury which the University of Calgary studies show do brain-damage at 120 times the speed of lead and others filled with halogens (the basis of gasses used in the First World War). Just like Soviet Russia, as soon as I asked the store assistant, a political Kommissar from the Green Party was there to lecture me about "global warming".
Hello! I'm Church of England, and don't believe the quasi-religious claptrap about the Goddess Gaia; I believe in caring for people and children.
What crazy country is Canada turning into, where dope and drugs are made legal while light bulbs are illegal?
Should we expect to see things develop as under the US’ 1920's liquor prohibition? Light bulb spivs in long overcoats selling second-hand Edison's finest at $100 a pop on street corners? Incandescent bulb smugglers pursued by cops in furious gun battles? Speak-easy "Light-up Bars" where one knocks on the door at the reference only of friends so one can bathe in a dozen 100-watt incandescent bulbs as one sips one's Martini?
At root, the promotion of these new light bulbs is clearly being done only for two reasons: to dumb us all down in a crazy Gaian plan for population reduction by poisoning us all -- and making the light bulb companies fat profits.
Within a couple of decades, our children will have been so poisoned by the mercury from the new "energy-saving" bulbs that Downs Syndrome kids will be regarded as the future smart elite of the nation (although, compared to the intellectual capacity of today’s Liberal Party Central Planners, they probably already are).
For now, the light at the end of the Liberal tunnel has most certainly been switched off.

(Fact check: 100 W bulbs were banned in 2014 by the Conservative government, not the Liberals; as The Globe & Mail reported, “These were moves made by the federal government to cut energy consumption.”)
