Gatineau wakes up to new mayor, 8 Action Gatineau councillors and 11 independants
France Belisle sweeps Gatineau

Gatineau residents have elected their first female mayor. France Belisle and 19 councillors were elected in the November 7 municipal elections. This year there was a 35.10% participation rate or 69,946 of the 199,302 individuals entitled to vote, making some of the races tight wins.
Mayor
France Bélisle is the new Mayor of Gatineau. Bélisle ran as an independent candidate and was elected with 29,734 votes (42.83%). Bélisle is replacing Maxime Pedneaud-Jobin, who did not seek re-election and has held the position since 2013.
Action Gatineau’s mayoral candidate and former councillor of the Plateau District, Maude Marquis-Bissonnette, came second with 26,159 (37.68 %) votes. Jean-François LeBlanc, former councillor for the Lac-Beauchamp district, came third with 11,330 votes (16.32 %). Jacque Lemay received 1,073 votes (1.55%), Rémi Bergeron got 726 votes (1.05%), and Abdelhak Lekbabi received 407 votes (0.59%).
District of Aylmer
Steve Boivin was elected as the new councillor for the Aylmer district with 1,775 votes (56.69%). Julie Cool with Action Gatineau came in second with 1,356 votes (43.31%).
District of Lucerne
Gilles Chagnon was re-elected as councillor with 2,641 votes (67.39%). Laurent Lavallée, Action Gatineau, came in second with 1,278 votes (32.61%).
District of Deshênes
Caroline Murray with Action Gatineau was elected Deschênes new councillor with 1,808 votes (54.92%). Michel Raymond came in second with 1,239 votes (37.64%) and Kevin Shannon received 245 votes (7.44%).
Plateau District
Bettyna Belizaire, Action Gatineau, was elected with 2,351 votes (61.42%). Serge Tonlé came second with 1,477 votes (38.58%).
District of Mitigomijokan
Residents of the new Mitigomijokan district elected Anik Des Marais with Action Gatineau. Des Marais received 1,376 votes (40.40%). André Pelletier came in second with 1,137 votes (33.38%). Bello Mansour came third with 893 votes (26.22%).
