LETTER
First Nations and Radioactive Waste – at the UN
The Iroquois Caucus / Anishinabek Nation invite everyone to participate in a special side event, “Canada’s First Nations and Radioactive Waste”, Monday April 23, 1:15 pm to 2:30 pm, Room S2925 BR (UN Secretariat Building), New York City.
Our concerns: Radioactive wastes remain dangerous for thousands of years
Radioactive poisons contaminate air, soil, food and water
Radioactive wastes are trucked through indigenous territories
Radioactive wastes are dumped on or near indigenous lands
Indigenous people have not given free prior informed consent
Indigenous communities have not been adequately consulted
Radioactivity causes cancer and damages in unborn children

Anishinabek Nation, Ottawa
