The Monastère d'Aylmer presented their submission for a film competition, held by the Fondation institut de gériatrie de Montréal, at the retirement residence on Thursday night, April 8th. The contest is called "JTECLIP" and participants, aged 13 to 25 years old, are asked to make a two minute video with an intergenerational theme. Vanessa Maillot, aged 19 and part time lifestyle and program animator at the Monastère is leading the project, having come up with the original concept of the video. It is titled "Les Youtoubeuses" and stars Florence Lafontaine as a young girl visiting her grandmother, showing her how to make a Youtube video of her daily activities; the grandmother is portrayed by Monastère resident Réjeanne Bergeron. "Our goal is to win a minimum of hundred votes. Even more would be fantastic, but each vote requires a donation of five dollars and at least 100 votes will raise 500$", says Rebecca Lessard, Lifestyle and Program manager at the Monastère who also appears briefly in the film. If their video wins the Public Vote, they will win a prize of 3,000$ that the Monastère would split in half, distributing 1,500$ to the retirement residence and Opération Enfant Soleil respectively. At the time of the announcement, the video had already garnered 25 votes and by the end of the evening, forty more residents at the monastery gave their name and money in support of the project. To vote, log onto www.jteclip.com and look for Vanessa Mailhot's film under Chartwell residence.
