LETTER
Fete nationale, again
As we near another 3-4 day edition of the Fete nationale festivities in our Parc des cedres, many neighbours feel something close to terror – we do not wish to be cast as anti-Québec and indeed we are not, but we do regret that our sleep and lovely neighbourhood will be subject to awful noise, drunkenness, loud music, fireworks, car horns, parking disputes on our streets, and shouts: how can we resolve this annual conflict, which doesn’t seem to be going away?
I suggest the organizers give free passes to all neighbours within three or four blocks of the park. Instead of calling us names, how about a positive gesture from the folks who are actually making a living off this uproar? Full passes, not a pass to walk around the booths!
Will they really lose revenue? Many neighbours will not go, and yet this gesture would build a lot of good will.
