Festival in OLD Aylmer, August 17 - 19
Fun and games hit the street!
This is the season when Rue Principale is filled with fun. The Festival du Vieux-Aylmer takes place up and down Principale, August 17 to 19. It is not to be missed! This year’s 30+ giant inflated structures include six new ones added to last year’s collection; they’re spread along Principale, from Wilfrid Lavigne Boulevard down to the water at the Symmes Museum. One new treat: visitors can visit the interior of a hot-air balloon on the grounds of the Monastery.
The festival marks an opportunity to discover the heart of Rue Principale – its merchants and entrepreneurs will display local products, many unavailable elsewhere.

Family activities are the attraction. Skills games, a BMX show presented by Craz-E-Crew, a public market, and many more surprises await visitors throughout the weekend, day and evening. BMX shows are booked for the Marché Laflamme Square parking lot, Saturday and Sunday, from 11 am to 4 pm.
The official launch of the festival blasts off on Friday, August 17, at the Bistro L’Autre Oeil, 152 Rue Principale, with a 5-to-7 happy hour of beer and cheese, followed by entertainment on the patio until 10 pm.
Bistro Mexicana, 129 Rue Principale, will present Introspection – Pink Floyd starting 6 pm on Saturday.
Love ping-pong? Family ping-pong is offered, August 18 and 19, from 1 pm to 4 pm at Billard Flixx on Court Street, beside the Lucy-Faris library.
The Auberge Symmes will screen an outdoor film Hochelaga, Terre des Âmes, starting at 8:30 pm, Saturday.
Most businesses on Principale are preparing original, fun-filled activities. For details, check the official program on the Association des professionnels, industriels et commerçants d’Aylmer (APICA)’s website at www.apica.ca .
