Federal action on minority situation media?
Francis Sonier, President of the Association de la Presse Francophone; Lily Ryan, Vice-president of the Quebec Community Newspaper Association; Randy Boisonnault, MP for Edmonton-Centre and Parliamentary Secretary to the Canadian Heritage Minister, as well as François Coté, Secretary-general of the Alliance des radios communautaires du Canada, met November 25 to discuss the sustainability of the press in minority language situations in Canada. Mr Boisonnault was presented with a document called “Community media in minority situation: issues, challenges, solutions, strategic investment.” It is a joint 13-page brief created by these three organizations as part of the 2016 Pan-Canadian consultations on Official Languages run by Mélanie Joly, the Minister of Canadian Heritage.
