LETTER
“Faith is Peace” Walk, June 23
This is an action call for all Canadians by Algonquin Spiritual Elder Albert Dumont and Grandmother Jane Chartrand for Friday, June 23, for the “Faith is Peace” Walk, on the sacred unceded land of the Algonquin peoples, Ottawa/Gatineau.
At the Victoria Island, Booth St. entrance, 10 am: prayers and ceremonies. 11 am is the Solidarity Walk to Parliament Hill. Noon, speakers.
To see our country becoming a beacon of light for the world, we are hearing the wisdom of our first peoples and our own indigenous hearts. To imagine Canada as a Culture of Peace and a Circle of All Nations living the vision of the late Algonquin Spiritual Leader and visionary, William Commanda. Canada’s Nelson Mandela!
Climate Change is forcing us to see the urgency in changing our polluting ways. To free ourselves and the imprisoned Ottawa River to flow freely and to return the three sacred islands to their original magnificence, we need mutual stewardship and accountability. The early peoples knew this area as a spiritual Mecca to meet, to pray, to give thanks, to trade.
