Expansion project on Côté Street
The transformation of Old Deschênes continues. During its March 21 meeting, the city’s planning committee (CCU) recommended the approval of an expansion project at 38 Côté Street in the Deschênes neighbourhood.
This property is occupied by a small one-storey house that will practically double in size once renovations are complete. The builder will add two garage doors on the home’s south side and will build living space above. The home, built in the mid-1950s, takes up less than one-quarter of the 840 square metre property.
For the construction to continue as planned, council must still approve a minor variance reducing the proportion of first- or second-class materials from 50% to 20% on the main facade. This modification was recommended by the CCU. The urbanism department also asked the builder to plant a tree on the front lawn and
preserve those in the back yard.
