LETTER
Election reform promise demands fulfillment
Liberal MPs can’t go anywhere in Ottawa without feeling the pressure of the nationwide campaign to get electoral reform back on the table.
More than 1,000 people chipped in to plaster hard-hitting electoral reform ads all over Ottawa -- on the sides of buses, inside MPs’ favourite restaurants, and on giant street signs blocks away from Parliament.
We initially planned to run the ad on a billboard at the Ottawa airport, but the airport rejected the ad for being ‘too political’. Instead of backing down, we’ve all funded an even bigger ad campaign to send a clear signal to Liberal MPs that we won’t forget this broken promise, and we expect them to make it right.
Next we’ll be rolling out a targetted campaign to sign more MPs onto our ‘Democracy Heroes’ pledge. It’s all leading up to a potentially pivotal moment in May - when we expect there could be a key vote on electoral reform in the House.
This isn’t the end!
