Election issue: the pipeline
It’s official: we’re in a climate emergency. But the federal government is trying to build a dirty oil pipeline with our tax dollars.
Prime Minister Trudeau claims any money Canada earns from Trans Mountain will be spent on clean energy. But there’s not a shred of proof this dead-end project will ever turn a profit, and plenty to suggest that taxpayers could be on the hook for big losses.
Since Trans Mountain was bought by a Crown corporation, it’s gone dark about the spiralling costs of the project, how we’re going to pay for it, and just how the federal government plans to get our money back from a project so risky that even Big Oil wouldn’t bet on it. Private investors wouldn’t put up with this and neither should we.
Canadian taxpayers and shareholders deserve answers.
