Education is the key to reaching full potential
Peace, Prosperity, and Hope are important to reaching full potential in life and are tightly linked to childhood education. Education is important as it opens the doors to future job opportunities, contributing to health and benefiting the economy. Globally, however, there are 263 million children without school education. Girls are 1.5 times more likely to be excluded from school.
To help with this situation, the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) was founded, a multilateral partnership dedicated to increasing education of especially marginalized children; e.g., children with disabilities, living in areas of conflict, and girls. The GPE’s board is meeting in Ottawa and a replenishment conference will be held at the end of 2017.
Ongoing funding from the global leaders in education is wanted now! I hope that Canada’s pledge towards the GPE aligns with its goals to improve child poverty, health and life prospects.
