Duggan joins the circus! 

I read in the Bulletin that Mike Duggan wants to be the Conservative candidate for Hull-Aylmer in the next federal election! 

I thought it was April Fools’ Day for a moment.  Really?  Democracy is such a fun spectator sport. With all the strange bed-fellows in Gatineau’s political parties and their priorities aligned with language radicals -- and seemingly opposite types of politics at other levels. It is no secret to anyone who reads the papers or watches council meetings that Mr Duggan has really worked hard for his ridings. Voters know he’ll put everything into his job. Do they believe he can campaign during a federal election and do a good job as city councillor? That’s a tall order. If anyone can do it, it is Mr Duggan. But with the added confusion of his politics to date being left-leaning and now he’s having to defend the right-wing political agenda in a riding stacked with unionized workers, how is this going to play out?
