----- Driving - and walking - in Aylmer
I appreciate your editorial about driving in Aylmer and your request for suggestions to help drivers follow the rules. May I humbly suggest another headline: Walking in Aylmer : what is wrong with us? I live near the Wilfrid-Lavigne crosswalks and walk them daily. You are correct that drivers don't always see or follow the signs. So a few rules that pedestrians could follow would be helpful. 1. Check the traffic flow. Don't step out as cars are accelerating or too close. Wait. 2. Look at the drivers. Make eye contact. Raise your arm with intent. 3. Nod or wave in appreciation. Most drivers are not trying to kill anyone. These common sense rules would help drivers out, and maybe keep a pedestrian safe.
