LETTER
Dress codes: Response to Mme Drouin-Soucy….
Thank you! I was educated in a private school for girls where uniforms were in and socks up to the knees were the norm (no skin allowed). I always chalked it up to preparation for decorum in the work life. In my adult life, I have always questioned why my fashion statements, or my expression of self-portrayal should have an impact on my mind, matter, credibility and respect. Especially being an investment broker in a male environment. A jean jacket over a classic sundress was taboo. A far cry from shorts and camisoles in high school during exams... I trust that as women, or as any gender, we all have the common sense for appropriateness according to circumstances. I must commend you for your boldness: naked or in a parka - respect is respect.
Kudos for putting the subject in proper perspective.
