Donations for Ecuador earthquake relief at local bank
The Ottawa-Gatineau Ecuador Association (AEOG) is fundraising to help Ecuador deal with the destruction of recent earthquakes.
Besides money, the association is collecting water lifestraws, canned food, sleeping bags, etc. There’s a big demand for booties for rescue dogs who are getting injured during rescue searches.
The AEOG is centralizing all relief efforts here. For transparency, the association will make all donations public. A major challenge is to support children who have lost their parents during the earthquake.
“We count on the solidarity of Canadians,” said Juan Sebastian Arteaga. “We hope Canadians will respond to the needs of Ecuadorians.” The AEOG is setting up donation points and fundraising events, hoping to avoid “donor fatigue”.
Donations to AEOG can be given at any Scotiabank by wiring funds to the AEOG’s Emergency fund account 029310437182. For donation points, visit www.aeog.ca.
Items most in need: sleeping bags, LED and halogen light bulbs, flashlights, batteries, rollaway beds, tents, canned food, and water lifestraws.
