Doctors and nurses -- before bricks
In reply to Eric Beaudoin`s letter, December 8, don’t get me wrong, I would be for a hospital in Aylmer also. However I do not feel like spending, not hours, but maybe days waiting for a doctor at the emergency ward. Where is the staff going to come from, may I ask ? Gatineau and Hull hospitals have had to close their emergency departments due to the doctor and nurse shortage.
We don’t need more bricks and concrete, we need to pay our doctors and nurses more so they remain in Quebec rather than move to Ontario and elsewhere. Likewise, I recommend speeding up the certification of immigrant doctors who at present have to drive taxis and wash dishes to support themselves.
