Division grows in the small details
I was looking at the SAQ building the other day; it's a nice clean design. There are a lot of windows, it is well-built and has an in-your-face prominent location at the intersection of rue Principale and the shopping mall. The location is at the main entrance to the mall with access to Home Hardware, Super C, Jean Coutu and what eventually will be new residential condominiums. There is nothing really wrong with the new SAQ until you look a little further, and notice that directly on the front of the building there is a small flag pole and flag holder, which is fine. But, unfortunately, there should be two flags flying there together.
At the moment there is only one flag, Quebec's Provincial Flag, the Fleur de lis. Canada's national flag is nowhere. Canada's flag should also be flying alongside the Quebec flag on this Government owned and controlled commercial outlet. Division in this country is caused by very small things, little things such as this.
Hopefully, separatism in Canada is once and for all done with. The recent murders and violence in Quebec City are a strong reminder that religious division still exists in Quebec and has deadly consequences.
