Digital radio festival in Old Aylmer

The Festival de la Radio Numérique (FRN) will return to Old Aylmer for its 6th edition, after two years of online activities. The festival will take place from April 28 to 30 at 5e Baron, Cabaret La Basoche, and at Transistor Média, the organiser. All are located on rue Principale in Old Aylmer.
“This year we want to celebrate the relaxing of covid restrictions by bringing together, those in Aylmer, Outaouais and Quebec, and inviting them to participate in the festival to discover new projects, podcasts and audio works,” Julien Morissette, co-founder and artistic director of FRN, told the Bulletin. “As podcast producers, we don’t often get to meet the public and those who consume our content. This festival is a way to bring together people with a common interest. It is also a way to thank those we have worked with throughout the year by getting others to discover our Old Aylmer businesses.”
The festival allows participants to discover digital audio works, broadcasters and digital artists. There are many events that take place over the three days of the festival, including round tables, live podcasts, comedy shows and other performances. Most of the events are free to attend. Morissette notes that making the events accessible to everyone was important when doing the planning. There are four paid events that cost about $20 per ticket.
Some events include the launch of a new series, Y'a Pas Juste Céline, by La Fabrique culturelle from Télé-Québec and a live recording of Tout le Monde S'hait that was awarded the 2022 Olivier Award for comedy podcast without script. A comedy show will close the festival, with Gatineau host and comedian Phil Brown and others, including Martin Perozzolo, Catherine Éthier and Suzie Bouchard.
This event brings together approximately 1,500-2,000 festival-goers every year. FRN was founded in 2017 in Old Hull and then moved to Old Aylmer. It was founded by Morissette and Steven Boivin, now the municipal Councillor of the Aylmer district.
