Densification helps Aylmer
Aylmerites love to discuss the evils of growth. Sure, building new communities on farm land north of the city doesn’t make sense. It seems that when Gatineau was amalgamated, the Land Use Planning department looked at the perimeter of the new city and started to fill it with residential communities.
But this is different from the proposal for the vacant lot in old Aylmer at 22 rue Principale. Densification is the way of a healthy future. The more pedestrians in old Aylmer, the better! There are lovely businesses there and they could use the customer base. Isn’t Gatineau planning a major investment at the marina’s park? These new residents will help pay for it, and enjoy it. I am all for building up and building dense. The port area of Vancouver is delightful, with its high-rises and all. Build it, I say, and let them come!
