Denis Tassé: Third candidate enters the mayoral race

Gatineau voters will see a third name on the mayoral ballot of this November’s municipal elections. Independent candidate Denis Tassé, the current Municipal Councillor for the district of Tourraine, officially entered the race, registering his campaign with the City Clerk’s office.

Mr Tassé was expected to announce his intention earlier this spring but indicated that the historic spring flooding experienced in Gatineau was partially the reason for the delay.

According to Mr Tassé, the citizens of Gatineau deserve a mayor who not only has the experience necessary to efficiently manage local services offered to citizens, but also someone who offers a long-term vision to make Gatineau a hub that can attract entrepreneurs to generate wealth while improving life for people here.

Mr Tassé hails from Hull, where he worked in his family’s grocery store. He went on to become a member of l’Association des détaillants en alimentations du Québec; he’s managed two grocery stores and was the President of Supermarché Tassé Ltée (Provigo).

After 45 years in the business community, he is currently retired and has dedicated his life to his family and the management of community affairs in the district of Tourraine for the past 11 years.

Mr Tassé’s competition in the mayoral race are Independent candidate and current Municipal Councillor for Bellevue district Sylvie Goneau, as well as current Mayor of Gatineau Maxime Pedneaud-Jobin of the Action Gatineau party.
