Decovenenting ceremony for Rev Susan Butler-Jones
Rev Susan Butler-Jones conducted service at Aylmer United Church for the last time, June 24. It also marked an anniversary of 40 years of Ministry with The United Church of Canada.
During the years Rev Susan has worked, she travelled throughout most of Canada, holding posts across the country. She has worked with all age groups and supported and nurtured every kind of emotion that she encountered. Her strength of Spirituality was determined early on, and it has led her to travel abroad, be a part of justice-seeking groups as well as a founder of Spirituality courses offered by two universities in Winnipeg and Nova Scotia.
Rev Susan brought much experience with her when she arrived in Aylmer in 2013. Her guidance and leadership of the congregation, as well as individually, strengthened and helped them explore the ‘Work of the Spirit’ within the church community and beyond.
In recent times she has encouraged and supported the congregation of Aylmer United Church to determine a vision of their future as they seek to become a stronger partner within the larger community of Aylmer.
It is with sadness that we, the congregation, say ‘farewell,’ as well as a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to Rev Susan, and her husband Rev Boyd Drake.
We wish them both many happy years ahead ‘following where the Spirit’ leads them.
