Cyclists vs cars
Media continues to report fatalities and accidents of bicycle-car collisions. I am very sorry for those involved. If you are on a bike, you are on a vehicle and all laws apply to you.
My wife and I have witnessed time and time again cyclists not stopping at regular street stop signs or red lights and not yielding to traffic.
We witnessed two young cyclists running a red light at the northern area of the Champlain Bridge at the Lower Aylmer Road, where the view was blocked by an RV; they were almost hit by oncoming vehicles who had the right of way.
The days are also getting shorter, so, please, wear something reflective and follow the bike laws concerning headlights, reflectors and hand/turning signals. Be smart; be safe.
