Customer service?
On Sunday afternoon, we took our family of four to what we consider a “family fun place” here in Aylmer. I won't mention names but it is anchored by an ice skating arena in the back and one not attached to the side. We were met at the service desk by an incredibly rude and grumpy older individual.
This person would not acknowledge me or answer me when I asked him, pleasantly, how his day was going; I said we were four and would like to pay for one hour of ten-pin. He looked at me and snapped, “take your boots off and put them over there!” We should have left, but I wanted to spend family time with my boys before the oldest went back to college.
Afterwards, we stopped in at a well-known Aylmer restaurant. We ordered food for four and, nearing the end of our meal, my oldest son found a hair on his plate. We brought this to the attention of the waitress, nicely. We told her we were not complaining but that some measures should be taken to prevent this from re-occurring. From then on we were ignored. Driving home, my youngest said he thought the cook had made fun of our complaint – and there was no compensation offered.
Next time, we will spend our money out of town where we hope we shall be better treated and shown a little more respect.
If businesses are concerned why we Aylmerites are not shopping locally, perhaps this may shine a little light on that.
