Coyotes in Aylmer?
A Samuel-Edey resident is warning her neighbours who own pets that coyotes are probably roaming in the area. She lives near the Samuel-Edey and McConnell intersection.
“I hear them howling at night,” she told the Bulletin. “There are about four of them. I think their den is near or in the golf course.” The Gatineau Golf & Country Club is located just south of the Boucher Forest, home to various species. The limit of Gatineau Park is also only several kilometres away from Boucher Forest.
If approached by a coyote, Parks Canada says to “remain calm, do not run away or turn your back, slowly back away, make noise, or blow a whistle if you have one.” Parks Canada also indicates that it is rather unusual to see a coyote because they generally run away from humans.
