Covid is hellish -- and heavenly!
Covid's casualty figures are from a brutal war, perhaps "World War III", with over 500,000 Americans predicted to die by the end of February. As for the poor, the jobless and evicted, especially brown and black people, the USA looks like a war-scape on a pandemic planet. However, this hell on earth is matched by a heaven.
Speaking of today's heaven, the numbers are spectacular with more than one trillion dollars added during the pandemic to the wealth of North America's 650-plus billionaires. Or the heaven enjoyed by the US stock market as the year ended, figures so high to make this Party Time for the genuinely wealthy. However his Amazon workers may be suffering, Jeff Bezos, once the richest man on Earth at more than $182 billion has already reached heaven. Elon Musk just passed Bill Gates and Bezos to take first place on that list with $185 billion -- he's in heaven for sure! Musk should be nearing Mars, rocketed there by his 2020 earnings!
I recommend your December editorial promoting a new "wealth tax" upon this obscene waste of lives and resources. Where is the NDP on this? The Greens? The Bloc? What explains their silence?
