New mandate for councillor Gilles Chagnon
Lucerne’s city councillor Gilles Chagnon has been given new responsibilities, those dealing with the world of education. This post was created in 2013 to facilitate a closer link between the City and various intervenors in education. The first-term councillor expressed his pleasure in working with the school boards and other educational institutions in the city.
Before his election, Mr Chagnon had been a member of the Portages-de-l’Outaouais School Board (CSPO) for ten years.
“It has only been ten months since I left that environment, so working within education shouldn’t be too difficult” noted Mr Chagnon. “I’m aware of the challenges, the difficult issues, and the workings of both environments.”
The mayor has expressed his pleasure with Mr Chagnon’s assistance, given his experience. The previous holder of this post was Jocelyn Blondin, present councillor for the Manoir-des-Trembles - Val Tétreau ward. This posting does not bring a raise in salary.
The opening of new schools, as the city grows, is a priority not only for the school boards but also for the councillor.
