Council meetings: where? when? who knows?
Thanks for your recent editorial, “Citizens in the Dark where Council Meetings taking Place”.
I would add Zoning Planning Committee meetings, too. Much more pressure is put on our Councillors there.
In the Ottawa Citizen, June 15, the importance of being informed to create a healthier democracy was highlighted by Chief Justice Murray Sinclair, former Chair of the Truth & Reconciliation Commission and now a Senator. In a stressed-out world of cement and cars replacing farmers’ land and our quality of life, many of us are aware that nature calms the brain and heals the body.
Mr Murray suggested to Ottawa City Hall that they might be wise to revisit the “United Nations Declaration of Indigenous Rights” as it pertains to the right of all indigenous peoples to have sacred spiritual healing spaces to worship.
Let us support our local papers at the municipal level to post times and places of City Hall Meetings and Planning rezoning meetings.
Let us share information so we can inspire, inform, and all get involved to realize we all are in need of sacred land and space to be alone, to reclaim wholeness, and our own sacred spiritual indigenous roots, and restored connection with our One home, Mother planet Earth.
