Contributions of the Anglophone community?

 

As we watch the CAQ's Bill 96 move through the National Assembly, with its new/old restrictions on the use of English -- and cutting health services especially to those older Anglos who are not about to return to school to learn a language they have been unable to master all their lives -- it's a good idea to look at what the Anglo minority has contributed to Québec.  Start at home, right here, with our news services.  These are essential for any modern society. We have plenty of not-so-good radio service and, of course, Radio-Canada, but it is the Bulletin d'Aylmer which, week after week,  keeps us informed of events not in China or Africa but right here at home, in our city council meetings and across our city's schools and sports teams -- all that. We have this one news source serving all of us in both  languages -- and it was saved and then re-built by local Anglos.  And now they have created the same for Gatineau/Hull sectors with the Bulletin de Gatineau!
    There have been many attempts to provide this news service (uniligually in French) in all the sectors of the city, and they have all folded -- they were not making enough money, so goodbye, too bad, so sad .... this is good Québec citizenship?  And now there are political points to be made by smacking down the most visible minority.  Doesn't this systematize racism -- or at least prejudice, Premier Legault?
