Confused by over-sized garbage pick-up in Gatineau
Am I the only one who is confused by the bulky garbage pick-up? We had a new pick-up scheduled by the city. This was great news!! We saw ads all over the place from the city, with the dates and instructions saying we could put out sofas and construction material. But then a snow storm hit. I read in the Bulletin (was it on the Bulletin’s website?) that the bulky items would be picked up two weeks after the advertised dates. Plenty of people in my neighbourhood had already put out their big items, prior to the snow storm. They left them out, of course, because they were full of snow and heavy and all. It was a snowy winter!
But now, weeks later, the items are still all over Aylmer. What happened? Did the pick-up just get cancelled? Did it happen but if there was snow on them, they were left behind?
I know the city is aiming to coach residents to be more responsible – and I’m all for it. We can be better at dealing with our household waste. But there has to be a better way. I’ve been watching for news in the Bulletin about when the next pick-up is, what’s going on, Bulletin? You going to give us the news?
