LETTRE
Condominiums approved, heritage lost
How sad that the ethical compass of our original peoples is lost in the chaos of developers seemingly having more power at Gatineau City Hall than our Heritage leaders and the many citizens.
Condos on rue Principal: all these undeeded Algonquin Anishinabe lands and waterways are now seeing us having to boil our drinking water and, many summers ago, having some homeowners not even have water in their taps -- not to mention that last Spring raw sewage was flowing into our source of drinking water. Do we really need more people overloading our aging infrastructure?
We can learn to work together to care for our home and our environment. Thursday, March 29, at noon, in front of the Peace Flame on Parliament Hill, let us spark a Reconciliation Process with both our past and present everyday decisions.
Together linking minds and hearts, we owe it to ourselves to put nature first in creating a new economy based on ecology and caring for our environments. In Aylmer/Gatineau, let us restore hope by seeking to have all our voices heard, and for elected leaders making decisions we can all celebrate (as) a legacy of health and well-being for future generations. We are the ancestors now; let us rise up in love.
