City turns a page on library project in the Plateau
The city has taken an important step towards building the new library in the booming Plateau neighbourhood when it acquired a lot on de Bruxelles Street at a cost of $975,000. The city made the announcement on August 30.
The city estimates the cost of the future library at $13 million. The property, located just above Allumettières Boulevard, is 3,487 square metres and was owned by Multivesco, owner of the development company, Le Plateau de la Capitale. According to city records, the vacant lot was evaluated in 2013 to be worth $563,100.
This summer, Multivesco and its partners made an ecological donation to Gatineau of two lots located along Boulevard des Allumettières. One of the gifted lot was valued at $456,800, while the other property was evaluated at $848,100. Both evaluations took place in 2013.
