City gradually opens outdoor rinks
Preparation of Gatineau’s outdoor rinks began January 1. Gradually, as the weather gets colder, the rinks will open. Aylmer has ten exterior rinks, and access to all is free.
As of January 3, only the rink at École de la Forêt, 219 avenue du Bois-Franc, was open.
Outdoor ice is open from 7 am to 10 pm until the end of March, depending on weather. Are all closed during heavy snow storms, and are cleared when there are snow accumulations of 2 cm or more. “If less than 20 cm is announced, the snow removal and polishing will begin within one hour of the end of the snowfall”, says the city.
