Water colouration possible
City checks hydrants
Annual fire hydrant inspection work begins on May 13 and will continue until July 31 in Aylmer, Hull and Buckingham sectors.
This work can cause a slight drop in pressure and perhaps yellowish, reddish or brownish discolouration of the water. In such a case, it is suggested to open the cold water taps and let the water run until it becomes clear again.
The city assures that once clear, the water should be safe to drink, but advises citizens to call 311 if it retains a colour after more than 60 minutes of flow.
Residents will be able to follow the progress of this work by consulting the map on the city’s website, which should be updated daily.
