Christmas in Old Aylmer
The Spirit of the Holidays could be felt this past weekend with the passage of the first weekend of Christmas in Old Aylmer.
From November 29th to December 1st, people enjoyed some great food, some unique local shopkeepers and some fun music for the illumination of Memorial Park’s big Christmas tree as well as the traditional Santa Claus Parade, where for the 25th time, a group of 30 decorated festive floats travelled along Principale Street led by the iconic Santa Claus and his elves.
After a long and difficult period of deliberation, according to Mylène Deneault, President of Christmas in Old Aylmer, the judges chose the following floats as this year’s big winners.
In the community category, Itinérance zéro earned itself the highest honors, followed closely by the 1st Aylmer Quebec Scouts and Unigym Gatineau.
For the commercial sector floats, it’s Sonart Musique that took home the gold, followed by Lime Fitness and PhysioOutaouais, who earned themselves second and third place, respectively.
The Jury’s favourite award was won by the Deschênes Community Group.
Merchants will meet again from December 6–8, this time accompanied by story readings, a children’s choir from the Deux-Ruisseaux School and an activity with members of the Paw Patrol.
