Christ Church Aylmer hosts Christmas concert
Christ Church Aylmer will stage a Christmas concert, November 25 at 3 pm. The Anglican church’s recital, at 101 Symmes Street, will feature two musicians, Marie-Claire Fafard-Blais (soprano) and Lisandre Sévigny Di Quinzio (piano). The duo are releasing an album, “Noël Piano-Voix”, November 16, and presenting a series of concerts in Gatineau, Joliette and Montreal. Aylmer residents’ contributions are voluntary, with $10-donations suggested, as well as gifts of non-perishable food. The event is to benefit the Society of Saint-Vincent-de-Paul and the Aylmer Food Centre.
The two talents Soprano Marie-Claire has performed
in operas and recitals in Canada and Europe. Now based in Montreal, she has bachelor’s (University of Montreal) and master’s degrees (University of Ottawa) in classical singing. She won high praise in 2015 at Salle Jean-Despréz for the Ponticello concerts, and was a semi-finalist in “French melody” at the Marmande, France, International contest. In 2019, she will be the solo artist for Orphée du Choeur’s concert in the Outaouais.
Pianist Lisandre has a master’s degree in interpretation from the University of Montreal. In June 2017, she won first prize in France’s international musical contest, in the category of four hands with her duo Sévigny-Roy. Her career includes the Chapelle historique du Bon-Pasteur and the theatres Claude-Champagne and Marguerite-Bourgeoys.
