Chalk River radioactive waste
Thanks (for your coverage of) the proposed mega-dump for radioactive waste at Chalk River. It was excellent and very much appreciated by all of us working to get the word out about this.
Twenty years ago, as the president of Concerned Citizens of Renfrew County and Area, I worked with the interprovincial committee of mayors and reeves from Pontiac and Renfrew County who were opposed to the giant cavern for radioactive wastes that was under consideration at the time. That proposal was, of course, eventually scrapped, but unfortunately, the current proposal is much worse. The consortium has been given a green light and hundreds of millions of taxpayers' dollars to dispose of as much radioactive waste as possible, as cheaply and quickly as possible.
Fortunately, the word is starting to get out, thanks in no small measure to the excellent coverage in your journal!
