Hajjar family brings active living to families
Centre Hajjar: $3.5 million investment
A new construction project going up at 2 Castelbeau is underway, adjacent to the professional centre on the corner of Aylmer Road and Castelbeau. The Centre Hajjar will be home to four businesses, with three commercial spaces on the ground floor and a large physical activity amusement centre on the second floor.
The amusement centre is a multi-component activities area that includes Laser Tag, Ninja Courses, trampolines with a foam pit, battle beam and Time Freak zone. It is called Adrenaline + and is a project headed by Ibrahim and Juliette Nader, with the backing of Jean Hajjar.
Adrenaline + is the anchor business in the Centre Hajjar. Mr Hajjar told the Bulletin why he got behind the activity centre, citing the importance of fun physical activity for Aylmer families.
“We aim to promote physical activities for youth, to get them away from their addiction to video games,” he told the Bulletin. “Adrenaline + is a place to burn calories while having fun. And it is not just for kids.” The trampoline area is heavy-duty, tested for all body types, even adults. The Laser Tag arena and Time Freak zone are fun for all people, with plenty of additional space for corporate events and birthday parties. A mezzanine overlooking the activity area is adjacent to a food canteen, for a comfortable space to wait while others enjoy the facilities.
“We got major help from the city planning and permit department,” explained Mr Hajjar. “We were backed by all councillors of the area, especially councillor Mike Duggan. He believed in the project and thought it would be added value for the area, for families here. He told us he loves the fact that it is not in an industrial park, that it is right in the city where families can take buses and bicycle paths to come to Adrenaline +.” The location is near the Rivermead Park-o-Bus, and the planned light rail train will run nearby as well.
Jobs for Aylmer
“I wanted to help keep families here in Gatineau, where, at the moment, families are driving far for this type of centre, to the other side of Ottawa or even Montreal,” Mr Hajjar told the Bulletin. He went on to explain that some fifteen local jobs will be created at Adrenaline +. “These jobs for also for younger people who will be able to bike or bus to work if they want to,” he said.
The foundation has been poured and the structure is going up this month, with the projected opening of Adrenaline + in March. “If all goes according to plan, Adrenaline + should be open for March Break,” concluded Jean Hajjar.
