LETTER
Bylaws are not secret!
This is a response to a letter written by “Linda” in last week’s edition. Did she research this town before she bought her house? Since she has so many trucks, boats, etc, a smart person would do their homework to find out what the requirements are for keeping these big toys before making a big commitment and moving here. In Gatineau, we are proud of our city and the way it looks. I’m sorry if she feels the bylaws are a secret. If she had taken five minutes to look at our city’s website, she would have found all the useful information that she needed. If that wasn’t enough, the city’s information line would have surely answered all of her questions. If the town she came from doesn’t care about the look of the city and its properties, that’s their choice. But here, in the National Capital Region, we like to have pride in our community. I do not blame her “nosy neighbor” one bit. For once someone is taking action when someone abuses the system. She says she wants to cut down a tree because she is allergic to bees. But one wonders why she owns all that outdoor equipment if she is allergic to the point of cutting down a tree.
One last thing, before she starts making assumptions about her neighbours, she might want to check who actually is being nosy and making complaints. Never assume.
A resident of Gatineau
