Bulletin founder and former editor passes
Margaret Virany was the daughter of the late Rev Dr JAC Kell, (a founder of the United Church of Canada) and Kathleen Ward, a war bride from Portsmouth. She was a founder and former editor of the Aylmer Bulletin and author of a number of books, including one about her family, the Kells. She supplied her verbatim notes for nine of the fifteen chapters of Northrop Frye’s Lectures published by professor Robert D Denham, English Emeritus professor at Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia.
Mrs Virany is survived by her husband Thomas, son Leslie and her grandsons Robert and Walter, daughters Paula and Alexandra (Robin Massett) and their children Samantha, Nicole and Laura.
A reception was held in Mrs Virany’s memory at the Aylmer United Church on October 14th. Contributions to the Cancer Society are welcome. Interment will be in Cookstown, Ontario on November 27 at 2 pm.
