British Hotel to host Christmas Market
A little taste of Germany and of Switzerland will come to Old Aylmer on the first weekend of December. “I’ve lived in Switzerland for many years and in Zurich they take their Christmas markets very seriously,” said Mike Clemann, owner of the British Hotel that will be hosting the market. “It’s a great event to have here in our establishments.”
Coupled with the traditional Aylmer Christmas Parade, the Christmas Market will feature a large number of vendors in the heart of Old Aylmer.
“In 2011, part of our planning for the British was to create a common area for the people of Aylmer. Our goal is to have 24 different functions here in the courtyard, in the heart of Aylmer. We’ve hosted many events this year and to close off the year we are hosting the Christmas Market. For the British, this means a lot because we’ve invested large sums in the common area and we really want to attract the people from Aylmer to our space,” Mr Clemann told the Bulletin.
For the event, the British team will set up a large decorated Christmas tree in the centre of the common area. Lights will straddle buildings outside, and inside the historic British there will be deep red Christmas decorations with festive greenery.
“We are truly getting into the spirit of the season,” added Clemann.
Unlike previous editions, the parade will take place on the Saturday evening and not the Friday, as reported in the Bulletin this summer. Departure time will be 6 pm on December 3.
Schedule:
Friday, December 2: 4 pm to 9 pm
