Brigil invests close to $10 million in Aylmer
This February the real estate developer Brigil applied for construction permits for three buildings in Aylmer to be worth more than $8.8 million. These will be in the southern part of Brigil’s Jardins McConnell housing project, one property near the corner of Vanier and Aylmer Roads.
The project includes three residential complexes. Two are valued at $2.5 million each and will hold 24 units each. The other residential complex, valued at $3.8 million, features three multi-unit buildings with a total of 36 units.
Each multi-unit building will be three storeys high with lofts, terraces and indoor parking. There will be some outdoor parking, but mainly for visitors. Unit size will vary between one, two or three bedrooms. The buildings should be ready in 18 months.
“We anticipate they will be rental units,” explained Carl Martin, Brigil’s Marketing Coordinator. The project should bring in more than 130 new residents to Aylmer.
According to a sketch map, future tenants will access their units from Arthur-Graveline Street. A new recreational path just south of the project will also lead to the buildings from Aylmer Road.
The city currently owns this land. It also owns a lot near Aylmer Road which is slated for a park, while the lot just north of the park is slated for a retention basin. The city also owns a strip of land that circumvents the home at 651 Aylmer Road. According to Mr Martin, no street is expected there, but rather the recreational path that will lead to a bus stop.
