Break and entry at the Symmes Inn Museum
The museum at Principale and Front Streets was broken into December 5. “A window was forced in,” Jean-Paul Lemay, spokesperson for the Gatineau Police told the Bulletin. Gilles Laroche, president of the Symmes Inn Museum noted that the window was broken on the ground level, along the Front Street side of the building. “The people may have been able to slip inside, but there is no indication they did, as the alarm system was not set off by the motion detectors,” explained Mr Laroche. “I imagine there must have been two people because we found the heavy metal grill that was on the building covering that window. It was at the barber’s across the street!”
