Blocked sewers: flooding, streets impassable
At four a.m. last Friday, I was outside in my bath robe and pyjamas in two feet of freezing water, removing leaves blocking the sewer covers in front of mine and my neighbour’s homes to prevent any flooding and our street being impassable. I and some other residents regularly remove leaves from in front of our homes to help prevent these problems. Recently I contacted the City about the leaf sewer blockage. They explained that, with only one street sweeper, they could not keep up with the problem. Crazy weather with rain storms is a trend that will only get worse, and Fall’s leaves are not going away. The City needs to invest in a few more street sweepers to contend with this problem.
If able residents could be responsible and keep leaves off the streets in front of their homes, that too would be a huge help.
