Bill Gatineau for city trash in the countryside?

 

I agree with most of Fred Ryan's March 28th editorial about household waste:  "Nobody gets away from this".  I would however, echo the important point attributed to Councillor Duggan.  Gatineau's decision to limit the amount of waste citizens can dispose of will, most definitely, increase the amount of garbage that is strewn on rural roads.  

I say "increase" as dumping in the country is already a problem.

Living in the Pontiac and using rural roads, I regularly see piles of yard wastes, construction debris, furniture and even appliances, yes refrigerators, dumped on country roads.  With this new law in Gatineau, dumping in the country will increase.  There should be a mechanism where rural municipalities can bill Gatineau for garbage that is dumped on country roads that has to be handled by rural municipalities.

There's one other thing.  In the second column, second paragraph of Mr Ryan's editorial, he states:  "Our taxes could eventually decline." Who told you that, Fred, a unicorn?
