Beach at Parc des Cèdres closed due to poor water quality
Gatineau officials were at the Aylmer beach on Saturday and Sunday, June 10 and 11, to warn swimmers that the water was too polluted to safely swim. Despite those warnings, some people continued to swim in an effort to cool off from high temperatures. The beach has been closed for swimming since June 7 because the water received a D rating for the high levels of e-coli discovered. The lifeguards used loudspeakers to ensure the message was received as the beach and park were densely full of people. A lifeguard onsite recommended that if you did happen to swim during that time, it was advised to wash all swimwear and towels, wash your skin thoroughly and drink plenty of water to help flush out whatever bacteria you may have swallowed.
